Dean Dachaza from Dargle Ducks in the KZN Midlands Meander, has earned recognition for the way he runs his duck farm operation. In addition to chicken feed, he feeds his ducks as far as possible on natural food like carrots, cabbage, spinach and earthworms which he grows himself. “They are not given any antibiotics, growth hormones or feed additives. “This is open range duck farming. Open range means they are free to roam day and night. Free range means they are in a building but they can walk on the floor but they can’t ever go outside and ever feel the sun.
